Adult-TeenSkate
The Adult-TeenSkate program teaches the fundamentals of skating required for recreational skating/hockey following our CanSkate levels. The focus is on fun and basic skill development with skaters progressing at their own pace. Lessons are given in a group format and led by an Skate Canada certified professional coach. This session is open to all skaters age 12 and older.
The fundamental movements of skating are arranged into three areas called Balance, Control and Agility - the ABC's of skating:
Balance
Skate Forward and forward moving Extreme, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills
Control
Stop, Skate Backward and backward moving Extreme, Speed, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills
Agility
Turn, Jump and Turn and jumping skills from Extreme, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills.
There are six stages of skating skills development. Skaters progress through these at their own rate, and move to next stage upon completion of a stage.
As in all of our CanSkate programs, a CSA Approved hockey helmet is mandatory of all of our Adult-TeenSkaters.
Adult-Learn-to-Synchro
The Adult-Learn-to-Synchro teaches the fundamentals required for beginniers Synchronized skating. The focus is on fun and basic skill development in a team environment. Lessons are given in a group format and led by an Skate Canada certified professional coach. Basic skating skills should be acquired prior to testing them in the synchro environment. This session is open to all skaters age 12 and older.
A fun introduction to the following five basic elements will be taught:
- Circle
- Line
- Block
- Intersection
- Wheel
