Is there Skating in the Summer?
Our Club currently runs two seasons a year - Fall (Sept/Oct - Dec) and Winter (Jan - Mar/Apr). Registration begins in August for the full Fall-Winter season.
Many of our skaters do participate in off-season skating. Off-season sessions are hosted by the Avalon Region and Skate NL (not by the CBS Skating Club) and locations do vary. Most of these programs are popular and require registration in March.
Spring/Fall - Avalon Region
Pre-Junior - Competitive
Spring (6 weeks from Apr-June) & Fall (4 weeks Aug-Sept) Skate is hosted by the Avalon Region and registration occurs in February/March of each year. Sessions take place at various arenas in the Avalon region, this year it is at the Glacier and Twin Rinks. These sessions are for Pre-Junior (CanSkate 4+) to Competitive Figure Skaters. Notel: Coaching must be pre-arranged prior to registering.
The Region also puts off CanSkate sessions for Canskate 2-6 during the Spring/Fall schedule as well (registration typically is in March of each year - deadline this year was April 6th). Coaching is included in this program.
Summer - NL Skating Academy
In the Summer, Skate NL offers 6 weeks of summer day sessions at their NL Skating Academy. These sessions are for Pre-Junior (CanSkate 4+) to Competitive Figure Skaters. Registration opens in March and concludes in May. Registration details are available on the Skate NL registration website: skatenf.uplifterinc.com. Note: Coaching must be pre-arranged prior to registering.
