Welcome to the CBS Skating Club
The CBS Skating Club is a proud member of Skate Canada, the largest skating body in the world and the national governing body for the sport of skating in Canada.
Skate Canada is divided into 13 nation-wide Sections and our Club falls under the Newfoundland/Labrador Section. Under the auspices of Skate Canada, the CBS Skating Club aims to provide opportunities for fun, fitness and achievement for skaters of all ages. The Club is a not-for-profit organization serving the Town of Conception Bay South and surrounding communities since 1976, promoting both recreational (3+ years of age – adult) and competitive figure skating programs.
As a member of Skate Canada, the CBS Skating Club is bound by the rules, regulations and policies of Skate Canada. In accordance with the Club's Constitution, the Club is run by a Board of Directors consisting of seven volunteers elected from the club membership and one representative from the coaching team. The Board is assisted by parent representatives and committee co-ordinators in the day-to-day operation of the Club. The Board meets on a monthly basis to discuss club management and operations. An Annual General Meeting is held every Spring to elect officers to the Board and to communicate and vote on matters pertinent to the general membership. Any adult member or parent of a member is eligible to run for a position on the Board.
In the 2016/17 season, the CBS Skating Club was the proud home of over 300 skaters in the CanSkate program, 60 StarSkaters, 10 competitive skaters and 7 synchronized skating teams. It operated out of both the Robert French Memorial Stadium and the the new CBS arena.
