CanSkate

This program is the learn-to-skate program for beginners of all ages (from pre-school to adult). Basic skating instructions are provided in a group situation. Skaters learn to go forward, go backwards, stop, turn, spin and jump in 6 stages. Badges are given when each stage is completed. However it is possible for skaters to work on 2 stages at the same time (i.e. skaters may have successfully mastered the stop from stage 1 and go on to stop in stage 2 but must complete all other elements in stage 1 before receiving that badge). This program is meant to help skaters learn to skate in a fun, safe environment. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Skating Programs.

Pre-CanSkate (play group)

This group offers the opportunity to very young skaters who may want or need the assistance of a parent or adult. A guardian may accompany the skater on the ice and help them become familiar with the CanSkate program and coaches.
