
StarSkate & Competitive Skate
StarSkate is the program a skater enters when they want to learn how to figure skate. This program is organized differently than the recreational programs, so skaters and parents may have a lot of questions; but, the executive and professional coaches are there to ease the transition.
At the CBS Skating Club the Star Skate and the Competitive Skate Programs run at the same time. At this level the program is broken into 4 sessions, they are:
Freeskate - This session the skaters learn how to spin and jump. They also learn field movements and practice a competitive routine, a.k.a. solo. Interpretive skating is also done during this session.
Skills - This session the skaters will learn various steps sequences and turns set to music.
Dance - This session the skaters will learn ice dances to music, once perfected they can be done with a partner.
Stroking - This session is essential to a skater's growth. This session trains power, speed, endurance, and flexibility.
The disciplines for StarSkate program are Freeskate, Dance, Skills and Interpretive, and they have the following levels:
Preliminary
Junior Bronze
Senior Bronze
Junior Silver
Senior Silver
Gold
The CompetitiveSkate program can be trained in singles, pairs or dance. The levels in the CompetitiveSkate Program are:
Pre-Juvenile
Juvenile
Pre-Novice
Novice
Junior
Senior
There is much over lap with both of these programs therefore they can be completed at the same time.
